- On 11 May 2025 – Mr So Mosseny took part in the 6th Num Moot Court Competition as a volunteer judge during the final round, organized by the National University of Management. The moot focused on proceedings before the International Court of Justice and various international treaties, particularly the 1959 Convention on the Reduction of Statelessness (See more here).
- On 1 April 2025 – Mr So Mosseny attended a workshop titled “Responsibilities on Tort Committed by Minors,” organized by the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Legal Contribution. The workshop aimed to discuss whether minors can be held liable for their tortious acts, who else may bear liability for torts committed by minors, and whether individuals responsible for supervising minors can be excused from liability for such acts (See more here).
- On 22 March 2025 – Mr So Mosseny, a member of the Executive Board of the NCAC, attended the 11th Annual General Assembly of the NCAC. At this occasion there was also an election for the seven new board members. Mr So Mosseny’s three-year mandate (2022-2025) came to an end and it was his honor and privilege to serve on the Executive Board for the interest and furtherance of methods of alternative dispute resolution in Cambodia. Several achievements during Mr So Mosseny’s mandate, among other things, was the adoption of the NCAC Commercial Mediation Rules in 2023 and its relevant rules (Code of Conduct for Mediators, Rules on Qualifications and Registration of Mediator) where Mr So Mosseny was a member of the committee in charge of drafting these rules. The first commercial mediation in Cambodia was established in September 2023 which allowed business communities as users more options and initial chance to settle their differences amicably with assistant of third party neutral prior to be decided by arbitration utilizing NCAC’s Med-Arb or Arb-Med-Arb mechanisms (See more here).
- By early 2025 – Our founder, Mr So Mosseny, had represented a company as a claimant in a commercial dispute with another company involving a service agreement and led to a mediated settlement agreement under the mediation rules of NCAC. Mr So Mosseny also assisted the parties in drafting this mediated settlement agreement. Although it took few months for mediation, the actual work lasted approximately seven months since the first engagement by the client in the summer of 2024 and it involved hundreds of hours of works including reviewing materials, preparation, consultation, legal draftings, meetings, direct negotiations and mediation. Mr So Mosseny, acting on client’s instruction, initiated a mediation request with the NCAC, despite the service agreement only included the arbitration clause to be conducted under the NCAC arbitration rules. The mediation rules allow mediation to be filed by single party and it can only be proceeded subject to the agreement to mediate by another party. The benefit of mediation as a win-win dispute resolution, in addition to being fast and cost efficiency, enable both parties to continue their business journey together.
- On 14 March 2025 – Mr So Mosseny volunteered to act a judge in a Cambodian Moot Competition organized by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia (ECCC). This Moot is unique and first of its kind which was conducted in Khmer language and focused on the laws, facts and crimes and case laws from the cases at the ECCC. It helps increasing awareness and the legacy of the ECCC for its historic works since 2006. It also brought back memories for Mr So Mosseny who had worked as defense counsel at the ECCC for 14 years.
- On 4 March 2025 – Mr So Mosseny attended a webinar on “How to Appoint an Arbitrator and What Are the Challenges of Being an Arbitrator for the First Time.”
- On 3 March 2025 – Mr So Mosseny attended as a volunteer judge in a John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition 23rd Edition Semi-Final round which was conducted at the Extraordinary Chambers in the Court of Cambodia. This moot competition centered on the awareness and understanding of legal instruments and case laws of the World Trade Organization.
- On 28 February, 1 and 2 March 2025 – Mr So Mosseny participated as one of the assessors at the last three-day session in a Commercial Mediation Training Intake 1 organized by the NCAC. The first two-day session took placed on 8 and 9 February 2025 and this last session involved a mock mediation where each trainee took turn to act as a mediator while the other two trainees act as claimant and respondent. This Commercial Mediation Training lasted five full days and comprised of six practical exercises and a mock mediation in addition to the lectures on theories and practices. In order to be accredited and registered as a commercial mediator at the NCAC, the incumbent trainees will need to pass a written exam to be conducted by the NCAC.
- On 26 February 205 – Mr So Mosseny attended a seminar on “Resolving Disputes in a Globalized Economy: Focus on Southeast Asia” organized by the American University of Phnom Penh.
- On 22 February 2025 – Mr So Mosseny participated as a volunteer judge in National Round of the 2025 Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition hosted by Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia (See more here).
- On 19 February 2025 – Mr So Mosseny attended a workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligent and Law Practice” co-organized by the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the National University of Management and Handong International University.
- On 13 February 2025 – Mr So Mosseny participated as volunteered arbitrator in the 22nd William C. Vis (East) International Commercial Arbitration Moot School Round (See more here).
- On 8-9 February 2025 – Mr So Mosseny participated as one of assessors in a Commercial Mediation Training Intake 1 organized by the NCAC.
- On 7 February 2025 – Mr So Mosseny attended a briefing session for the assessors in preparation for the upcoming Commercial Mediation Training conducted by Mr Johnny Tan.
- On 22 January 2025, Mr So Mosseny, as member of Executive Board of the NCAC, attended a meeting between NCAC led Mr San Kiri and the Ministry of Commerce led by H.E. Buon Sarakmony.
- On 15 January 2025, Mr So Mosseny joined a workshop on the Introduction to Mediation Rules of NCAC co-organized by the NCAC and the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
- On 8 January 2025, Mr So Mosseny joined a webinar on “Post Pandemic Dispute Resolution” organized by the NCAC.
- On 5 December 2024, Mr So Mosseny had volunteered to act as a mediator in a Moot mediation session for law students from the Royal University of Law and Economics, English Language Bachelor of Laws program, competing in the Internation Chamber of Commerce Mediation Competition which is scheduled to take place in February 2025 in France. - On 30 November 2024, Mr So Mosseny had volunteered to act as an arbitrator for the ICRC IHL Moot co-organized by the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia and the National University of Management (See more here).
- On 17 September 2024, Mr So Mosseny, as a member of Executive Board and a director of Disciplinary Committee of NCAC, hosted a meeting with a delegation of Lawyer Association from Guizhou province, China at the NCAC office (See more here).
- On 21 July 2024, Mr So Mosseny conducted a training on party representative focusing on “Selecting an Arbitrator and Preliminary Meeting” organized by the NCAC (See more here).
- On 6 July 2024, Mr So Mosseny attended the NCAC 3rd Moot Competition and received a certificate in appreciation for his effort as a Moot Author (See more here).
- On 27 June 2024, Mr So Mosseny was invited as a guest speaker in a panel discussion for the Breakfast Talk event entitled “Expert Insights: Arbitration and Mediation”, co-organized by the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) and the National Commercial Arbitration Centre (See more here).
- On 29 May 2024, the National Commercial Arbitration Centre (NCAC) has received its first mediation request. The NCAC has launched its mediation service on 18 May 2023.
- On 17 May 2024, Mr So Mosseny gave a lecture on mediation focusing on roles of mediator and other participants in mediation to students of English Language Based Master of Law Program of the Royal University of Law and Economics (See more here).
- On 16 May 2024, Mr So Mosseny was invited to be a moderator at an event organized by the National Commercial Arbitration Center on Introduction to Mediation Service (See more here).
- On 15 May 2024, Mr So Mosseny, as a member of Criminal Affairs Committee of the Bar Association of the Kingdom of Cambodia (BAKC), attended a meeting organized on introduction to services of FASTCASE, a world leading legal database (Link).
- On 12 May 2024, Mr So Mosseny was invited to be a judge at a semi-final round of the 5th Moot Competition of the National University of Management.
- On 19 April 2024, Mr So Mosseny was invited as one of the speakers at a webinar on “Advantage of Enrolling Party Representation in Arbitration Proceedings Skills Training Course” organized by the National Commercial Arbitration Centre.
